Just Do It

This morning, on our last morning here in Missoula,
I decided to go for my last run up to the M.
I’ve hiked it once before on one of our previous trips,
but we had not made it up there this time around so I gave it a shot to squeeze it in.
As I was running up all the switchbacks, the old Nike advertisement
“Just Do It” came to mind.

So this is love, as demanding and nourishing and difficult as it can be, and as strong and wise as it makes you become. There is something to be gained from commitment. There are rewards for staying when you would rather leave. And there is something to be said for running up that hill when you would rather slide down it. And so you let love come perch upon your shoulder. And you do not turn it away. You do the tango.
Just do it.”

Praying for you this morning for God to give you the grace to run up that mountain on days when you’d rather slide down.
